“The regional workshop is part of the design process of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development 2021-2030. It will provide a forum to engage multi-disciplinary stakeholders and provide inputs to the development of the Implementation Plan of the Decade. This workshop dedicated to the Mediterranean region will aim to identify concrete deliverables and partnerships to meet the Decade’s objectives.”

Georg Umgießer (Institute of Marine Sciences – National Research Council, Italy) has been invited to contribute to the regional workshop as a panellist in the WG IV: “A safe Mediterranean Sea”. Furthermore, Sina Bold (Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Institute of Coastal Research, Germany) presented DANUBIUS-RI highlighting the identified knowledge gaps and how DANUBIUS-RI can contribute to fill them.
